Training Course on NON-TIMBER FOREST PRODUCTS
UTILIZATION IN CLIMATE CHANGE MITIGATION
The course provides participants with the knowledge and skills on the utilization of non-timber forest products, and hands-on experiences on the propagation and utilization on of non-wood raw materials vis-à-vis environment-friendly processing techniques.
COURSE CONTENT
· Principles and Techniques of Biomass Determination on Non-Wood Forest Products
· Basic Properties and Propagation/Harvesting/Extraction Techniques of Selected Non-Wood Forest Products such as Bamboo, Vines, Pandan, Resin/Gums/Rubber, and Essential Oils
· Field Trips/Plant Visits/Field Practicum
DURATION AND DATE
Four Weeks: 06 Aug. – 02 Sept. 2013
WHO SHOULD ATTEND?
The training course is designed for professionals who are and will be engaged in the manufacturing processes of non-wood raw materials.
THINGS TO BRING
Participants must bring data on the project area where the prospective participant is working.
COURSE FEE
The course fee is US$4,000 inclusive of costs of tuition, training-related field/visits, supplies and materials, minimal group accident insurance and conveyance from and to the Ninoy Aquino International Airport in Manila. Payment of course fee should be made on or before the start of the course. Participant and/or sponsor should shoulder the following expenses:
a. Transportation from and to the participant’s point of departure to the Philippines, airport fees, passport and visa;
b. Daily subsistence allowance (DSA) for meals, lodging and other incidental expenses for the entire duration of the meeting.
