Training Course on COMMUNITY MAPPING AND PLANNING
FOR DISASTER RISK REDUCTION AND CLIMATE
CHANGE ADAPTATION
This course updates professionals who desire to become adept at encouraging local communities to adapt formal science with ethnoscience in mapping and planning for fragile environments.

COURSE CONTENT  
· Description of Participant’s Experiences in Community-Based Mapping and Planning and Diagnosis
· Basic Concepts in Climate Change; Concepts and Tools in Resource Assessment, Community Mapping, and Participatory Planning
· Field Demonstration of Mapping and Planning Capability and Refinement
· Communicating Results to Various Publics
· Preparation of a Project Proposal Relevant to Work Situation 
· Synthesis

DURATION AND DATE
Four Weeks: 20 Aug. – 16 Sept. 2013

WHO SHOULD ATTEND?
Foreign and local forestry and environment-based professionals engaged in rural advisory services (e.g. MENROs, ENROs)

THINGS TO BRING
Data, video, poster, and other materials about the community-based program and the local initiatives (local plans, ordinances, etc.) that incorporates, or may incorporate, community based disaster risk management. These will be helpful for sharing and for writing the re-entry plan.

COURSE FEE
The course fee is US$4,000 inclusive of costs of tuition, training-related field/visits, supplies and materials, minimal group accident insurance and conveyance from and to the Ninoy Aquino International Airport in Manila. Payment of course fee should be made on or before the start of the course. Participant and/or sponsor should shoulder the following expenses:

a. Transportation from and to the participant’s point of departure to the Philippines, airport fees, passport and visa;
b. Daily subsistence allowance (DSA) for meals, lodging and other incidental expenses for the entire duration of the meeting.
