AGROFORESTRY FOR CLIMATE CHANGE ADAPTATION AND SUSTAINABLE RURAL LIVELIHOODS

09 July - 05 August 2013 (4 weeks) US$4,000

The course equips participants with the knowledge and skills in planning, designing, implementing, monitoring and evaluating agroforestry models/systems that are adaptive to global climate change, enhancing biodiversity conservation, and providing entrepreneurial sources of livelihood.

NON-TIMBER FOREST PRODUCTS UTILIZATION IN CLIMATE CHANGE MITIGATION

06 August - 02 September 2013 US$4,000

The course provides participants with the knowledge, and skills on the utilization of non-timber forest products, and hands-on experiences on the propagation and utilization of non-wood raw materials vis-à-vis environment-friendly processing techniques.

COMMUNITY MAPPING AND PLANNING FOR DISASTER RISK REDUCTION AND CLIMATE CHANGE ADAPTATION

20 August - 16 September 2013 (4 weeks) US$4,000

This course updates professionals who desire to become adept at encouraging local communities to adapt formal science with ethnoscience in mapping and planning for fragile environments.

GEOMATICS FOR IMPROVED DECISION-MAKING IN NATURAL RESOURCES MANAGEMENT AND ENVIRONMENTAL DESIGN

03 September – 30 September 2013 (4 weeks) US$4,000

The course deals with set of technologies designed for data acquisition, analysis and decision-making including geographic information systems (GIS), remote sensing (RS) and global navigation satellite systems (GNSS).

DESIGNING FOREST RESOURCE MANAGEMENT SYSTEM WITH CLIMATE CHANGE ADAPTATION VULNERABILITY ASSESSMENT AND DISASTER-RISK REDUCTION

15 October – 11 November 2013 (4 weeks) US$4,000

The course equips forest managers with state-of-the-art forest resources management concepts, tools, methodologies and strategies in the context of changing climate and its impacts on forest ecosystems and local communities.

BUILDING INSTITUTIONS FOR ENVIRONMENTAL SUSTAINABILITY AND POVERTY ALLEVIATION

05 November – 02 December 2013 (4 weeks) US$4,000

The course develops participants’ capability to build, initiate, facilitate, coordinate, and promote strategies, tools, and programs to ensure rural development in forest zones and fragile habitats constantly challenged by changing climates and priorities.

TRAINING CENTER FOR TROPICAL RESOURCES AND ECOSYSTEMS SUSTAINABILITY (TREES)

TREES serves as the training unit of the College of Forestry and Natural Resources, University of the Philippines Los Baños (UPLB).

TREES organizes continuing education courses and study tours on a wide range of subjects concerning tropical forestry, natural resource conservation and ecosystem management.

TREES engages highly competent trainers and facilitators from a pool of UPLB faculty and staff members as well as experts form collaborating agencies, institutions and organizations.

TREES offers the right learning environment provided by its training and accommodation facilities, the UPLB campus and the lush Mount Makiling Forest Reserve.

TREES commits to continue the legacy of excellent service it has provided so far to about 3,000 graduates from more than 38 countries.
