TREES Refresher Course
for Forestry Graduates Concluded
The Training Center for Tropical Resources and Ecosystems
Sustainability (TREES) conducted a Refresher Course for Forestry Graduates last
May 8-29, 2013. The course was designed
to augment the knowledge, skills and attitudes of forestry graduates to
systematically prepare them in taking the foresters’ licensure examination.
Forty-two participants registered for the course, 26 of which are from the UPLB College of Forestry. The other 16 participants are from the Southern Luzon State University (4), Benguet State University (2), Abra State Institute of Science and Technology (3), Mariano Marcos State University (1), Mindanao State University (1), University of Rizal System (1) Don Mariano Marcos State University (1) Bicol University (1) Aurora State College of Technology (1), and Visayas State Univeristy (1).
The course content is divided into four major subject areas
in forestry namely; Forest Ecosystem, Forest Utilization Engineering, Forest
Governance and Social Forestry, and Forest Production and Management. The specific topics are based on the revised
syllabi for Foresters’ Licensure Examination from the Professional Regulation
Commission.
The training course also includes a topic on Recent Developments
in Forestry. Nine UPLB graduates make it
to the top 10 during the mock examination conducted on the last day, while a
participant from DMMSU garnered the top 8 slot.
